Who I Am and Why You Need to Listen to Me…
It’s very difficult when you love your child and try to help him or her feel more successful. And despite all your love and effort, you watch helplessly as his or her behavior only gets worse.
My son was difficult when he was two. By the time he was four, I was getting worried about his behavior. When he was six he was out of control. And when he was eight, he was considered “at risk.”
I went to the ends of the earth to find someone to help me help my son, but no one seemed to know how to stop his arguing and blaming, his lying and stealing, and worse. Having exhausted my resources, I was desperate.
By grace or good fortune, I was led to an international parenting expert and therapist that had raised 36 children with severe ADHD. She explained that my son also had ODD – oppositional defiant disorder. (65% of children with ADHD develop it.)
She patiently explained that I was innocently doing normal things every day that were making my son’s behavior much worse. She taught me news things I could do instead to improve his behavior and solve big problems at home and school.
After I had used her methods for only 21 days, my son’s behavior was 70% better. Now my son is 16, almost has his eagle badge in Boy Scouts, and is making B’s in school, and is active in our place of worship.
I am so grateful that I found the answer to helping him. That is why I want to help other parents that are suffering now as my family was then.
